Vanessa and Anthony’s engagement session was seriously a dream. We chose a beautiful, open garden in the Bay Area and it was absolutely perfect. Even in the small space, we managed to get so much variety in poses and scenery. Engagement sessions are valuable for several reasons, one being the opportunity to get comfortable with your photographer and in front of the camera, as well as having stunning photos for your Save-the-Dates and/or wedding website.
If you have decided that you do want to do an Engagement Session, here are a couple tips to consider when planning it:
- Location – this is going to really give your session it’s overall vibe so definitely choose a location carefully. Are you an adventurous couple that loves to hike and explore new places? Maybe the beach or redwoods would be the perfect backdrop. Do you and your honey enjoy wine tasting or indulging in new high-end restaurants? Then, Napa might be for you!
- Outfits – the first rule of thumb is to wear something that you feel AMAZING in! Having two outfits is a great way to get some variety. A lot of couples will do a more casual look and then change into something a little more formal. Color palette is also important, I tend to recommend light colors as they photograph well and don’t overpower the images. Vanessa’s white dress with light blue flowers is beautiful and feminine without taking your eye away from her. If you know your wedding colors, it would give your invites and website a cohesive look to choose an outfit that compliments your wedding colors.
